First mover in a nascent industry. The vision behind Wayv was controlling wholesale distribution through software. The result was a distributor platform wired directly into a complete e-commerce experience connecting vendors and retailers.
The platform broke into five main products:
- Warehouse management
- Driver routing, including a native app enabling manifest completion
- Two-sided marketplace for buyers and sellers
- Compliance layer connecting directly to regulatory bodies
- Payment gateway built for a high-risk processing environment
I led product development and technical planning through the earliest phases. We raised a $5M seed from Craft Ventures, grew from zero to $5.5M in monthly GTV, and scaled to 55 employees serving 600+ California retailers and 100+ brands. TechCrunch covered us as a first mover innovating the cannabis supply chain.
We shipped California's first compliance automation — eliminating manual data entry and reducing delivery times from five+ days down to next-day. Partnering directly with distributors allowed us to improve the overall offering of fulfillment services by providing marketplace exposure, advertising, and financial services to the industry in short order, pioneering approaches that are now standard.
